Application Environment Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced SAP Application Environment Manager / Solutions Architect to lead the strategy, coordination, and operational readiness of SAP and integrated application environments. In this role, you will ensure stability, consistency, and alignment across development, testing, quality, and production systems, supporting both ongoing operations and large-scale transformation initiatives. You will play a critical role in enabling seamless delivery by managing environment dependencies, minimizing risks, and driving governance across the application lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead the management of SAP (ECC and S/4HANA) and integrated environments to ensure availability, consistency, and deployment readiness.
• Oversee dual-maintenance strategies for business-as-usual (BAU) and project systems, ensuring synchronization during active implementations.
• Plan and execute environment freeze strategies (soft and hard) to maintain system stability during key project phases.
• Coordinate system refreshes, client copies, and data readiness to support testing, training, and deployment activities.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate environment-related risks, conflicts, and dependencies across cross-functional teams.
• Drive disaster recovery (DR) planning, testing, and execution to ensure business continuity and rapid recovery.
• Establish and enforce governance frameworks, standards, and best practices for environment lifecycle management.
• Partner with engineering, QA, release management, and business stakeholders to align environment strategies with organizational priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience managing SAP environments in large, complex enterprise landscapes.
• Strong understanding of SAP transport management, system refreshes, and environment lifecycle processes.
• Experience supporting dual-maintenance strategies during SAP implementations or upgrades.
• Experience in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with both SAP ECC and S/4HANA environments.
• Demonstrated ability to manage environment freezes and coordinate large-scale project releases.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with a proactive and creative approach to risk mitigation.
• Experience working in Agile, DevOps, or hybrid delivery models.
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive alignment in fast-paced environments.
