About the role

As an Applications Engineer, you will perform essential functions for Sales and Applications, including product demonstrations, time studies, and post-sales customer support. You will work with customers after installation to provide startup and production assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct best-in-class customer product and production flow demonstrations, and attend trade shows to increase sales of automated bending machines.
  • Provide customer application and sales support using TRUMPF digital solutions, both virtually and on-site.
  • Perform feasibility analyses, time studies, and produce sample parts for customer evaluation.
  • Continuously expand technology knowledge by participating in training and testing functions.
  • Support machine startups and provide hands-on production assistance post-installation.
  • Maintain and demonstrate assigned technology in the production showroom environment.
  • Organize and deliver customer product training courses focused on programming and operating equipment.
  • Consult and demonstrate the latest machine technology solutions for Industry 4.0, becoming a resident expert on all related hardware, software, and services.
  • Collaborate with product centers and other TRUMPF subsidiaries to provide feedback on product development and improvement ideas for bending technology.
  • Assist with new machine introductions through testing and early customer support.

Travel estimate: 30% on average, with a focus in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.

Requirements

  • Multiple years of experience in sheet metal manufacturing, with strong knowledge of robotic bending and automated production.
  • Experience in programming and operating industrial robots (FANUC preferred) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM systems, bending machine programming, and general machine tool operation.
  • Understanding of manufacturing technologies and production software systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; customer-facing experience required.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. regularly; willingness to operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
