About the role
We are seeking two Application Engineers for our NA Aerospace team. This role leads and manages the technical relationship with SKF’s customers, working closely with Sales and Customer Service as part of the account team. Responsibilities include translating customer technical needs into SKF offerings, evaluating risks, verifying product selection, and analyzing field service history. The engineer promotes SKF know-how and value propositions while collaborating with a global team of subject matter experts.
Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities by understanding customer needs, spotting market trends, and introducing SKF technology.
- Support Aircraft Engine, Helicopter Transmission, and e-Aviation customers within North America.
- Coordinate engineering activities from opportunity inception to production end, following the ETO (Engineering To Order) process.
- Ensure adherence to verification and validation procedures and track product performance in the field.
- Perform bearing calculations and develop/manage design and process validation test plans using SKF Aerospace resources.
- Collaborate with customer engineering teams to resolve technical issues and secure approvals for product/process changes.
- Apply lessons learned to improve business outcomes and solve technical challenges.
- Work with a global team spanning engineering, sales, project management, design, quality, testing, manufacturing, and customer service.
- Deliver technical presentations and training to customer groups.
- Align tasks across multiple customers, build relationships with engineering teams, and drive innovative lightweight/low-friction solutions to reduce CO₂ emissions.
- Assist customers in selecting environmentally friendly/compliant bearing solutions.
Requirements
- Engineering degree (Mechanical or Aerospace preferred).
- Experience in technical sales or applications engineering is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of rolling bearings, airframe bearings, aerospace materials, and related calculations.
- Strong technical communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proficiency in English.
- Relationship-building skills to influence customer technical decisions.
- Experience with calculation tools, engineering design software, and manufacturing processes is beneficial.
- Flexibility to travel within the U.S. (up to 30%) and occasionally internationally.
This position is based in Falconer, NY, though other U.S. locations may be considered for the ideal candidate.

Pay
Salary range: $71,000 to $80,000 per year.
