Application Engineer
The Challenge
The Applications Engineer supports sales, engineering, and end-users by providing technical expertise in abrasive air blast processes, equipment selection, and surface preparation requirements. This role evaluates customer applications, recommends appropriate blasting media, equipment, and process parameters, and ensures proposed solutions meet surface requirements, production targets, and the customers' Job to Be Done (JTBD).
This position serves as a subject-matter expert for both manual and automated blasting systems, supporting projects from concept through commissioning.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Owner Responsibilities: Opportunity Management Process, Project Costing Tools and Drive for Market Pricing, Proposal Formats and General Arrangements, Clear articulation of the Value Proposition and clear Job To Be Done, Monitor Team win rate, Customer-Facing Interactions, Written communication with Distributors and customers, Participation in meetings with Clemco and customer teams during opportunity management, Effective use of technology to communicate, Travel to Customer locations up to 25%, Face to face meetings with customers to define JTBD, and gather technical information, Willingness to engage in constructive conflict to arrive at win/win solutions, Team Collaboration, Integral part of Project Management team, Partner with field sales to prioritize, opportunities and deliver on value propositions, Collaborates closely with engineering and manufacturing to align offerings with design build, and strategic standards, Leadership and Culture, Leads cross-functional teams and positively influence outcomes, Participates in LEAN initiatives within project management and cross-functional events, Upholds the Clemco values: Prioritizing customer experience and safety; reinforcing PQDCG (People, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Growth) priorities, Fostering pride in quality and protecting people from hazards, Promoting transparency, open dialogue, and respect

Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field
3+ years’ experience in a LEAN manufacturing environment preferred
Working knowledge of AutoCAD
Experience writing compelling proposals, and estimating costs for custom engineered equipment solutions
Excellent critical thinking skills, and ability to analyze information from multiple sources
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentations and technical communication
Understanding of Clemco/abrasive blasting products and surface preparation (preferred)

Primarily office environment with some exposure to manufacturing plant and field settings
Occasional Travel (up to 25%) to customers, distributors, trade shows, etc.
