Application Engineer 4

About the role

Designs software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analyses and manages their implementation. Manages software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, other accepted design techniques and Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools. Estimates software development costs and schedule. Reviews existing programs and assists in making refinements, reducing operating time and improving current techniques. Formulates and defines specifications for software applications or modifies and maintains existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer. Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation. Instructs, directs, and checks the work of other task personnel. Responsible for quality assurance review and the evaluation of existing and new software products.

Responsibilities

• Develops detailed guidance for cloud workloads that ensure compliance with Government security and regulatory requirements such as NIST SP 800-53 security controls
• Collaborates with cloud-focused teams across various organizations to design, test, and implement cloud workload security configurations and solutions
• Facilitates the creation of procedures and cybersecurity guidance for migrations from legacy cloud environments or hardware environments into AWS
• Evaluates and researches cloud services and makes recommendations for security configurations of those services to ensure data is appropriately protected
• Evaluates and researches cloud security technologies and makes recommendations for their use

Requirements

• TS/SCI with agency appropriate polygraph
• Twelve (12) years minimum experience and a High School Diploma/GED
• Ten (10) years minimum experience and an Associate's Degree
• Eight (8) years minimum experience and a Bachelor's Degree
• Six (6) years minimum experience and a Master's Degree
• Four (4) years minimum experience and a Doctorate's Degree

Qualifications

• Customer facing skills to drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation
• Experience with cloud computing and virtualization platforms
• Ability to quickly learn and shift in step with the latest cloud-computing, networking, and infrastructure management technologies
• Excellent communication, writing, problem solving, and architectural whiteboarding skills
• Strong knowledge of application system and network architectures and associated security principles including protection of data at rest, in transit, and in process
• Knowledge of security and compliance requirements for cloud-based solutions

Pay and Schedule

$87.70 - $118.77 an hour Pay Range: $87.70 - $ 1 18.77 per hour*
