SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS
The Application Development Engineer III will be accountable and responsible for the technical adoption of Toray materials into customer products and applications. Primary objectives will be to identify new use cases for Toray materials and provide recommendations to solve customer challenges. This person will interact and work directly with the customers to advise on processing and properties of Toray products by identifying and recommending solutions for Toray material. Possess the ability to drive internal application development efforts that will lower the barrier to entry for adopting Toray materials, making Toray a preferred partner in composite materials.
Major Duties and Requirements
- Identify and recommend new applications for Toray products and drive adoption of Toray materials with Account Managers/Business Development, enabling new business
- Lead internal application development projects that can include customer facing process development, equipment capex, and/or equipment qualifications
- Engage with consortiums and industry partners to drive the adoption of Toray materials in key industries and markets
- Represent Toray at major industry conferences (SAMPE, CAMX, JEC, etc.) by developing and presenting technical content that enables the adoption of Toray materials
- Manage customer site audits and visits, support and/or lead targeted projects as needed for critical material and part qualifications
- Interface with the customers to advise on processing and properties of Toray products by identifying and recommending solutions for Toray material
- Support troubleshooting material processing for Toray materials at customer locations
- Own the technical report, presentation of reports and findings to customers
- Able to work with all related functions including Manufacturing, Process Technology, Process Engineering, R&D, Quality Assurance and Sales to achieve the company's objectives
- Absorb responsibility for the safety and environmental issues associated with the use of Toray materials within manufacturing processes
Experience and/or Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in material science, engineering, mechanical engineering or related field
- 12+ years of experience in composite materials processing, composites R&D, or composite process engineering
- Mentorship, training or supervision experience preferred
- Led Green Belt or Black Belt Six Sigma training preferred
- Computer skills – MS office applications. Microsoft Project or equivalent is required
- Experience in SolidWorks or other CAD software
Pay
Salary range: $94,000 - $140,000 annual
