Application Developer
About the role
Our client, a leading financial services organization, is seeking an Application Developer for an 18-week contract (August 23, 2026 – December 26, 2026). This role is ideal for a software engineer who enjoys building scalable backend applications, developing cloud-based solutions, and leveraging modern DevOps practices to deliver high-quality software. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who thrives in a collaborative environment and takes ownership of projects from design through deployment.
Location: Brookfield, WI (preferred) or Portland, OR. Work arrangement: hybrid, with a preference for candidates located near one of the client's hub locations.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance backend applications and RESTful APIs using C# and .NET Core
- Build and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable cloud-based solutions within Microsoft Azure
- Develop and optimize SQL databases, queries, and data integrations to support application performance
- Create and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using GitLab to streamline software delivery
- Partner with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define technical solutions, and deliver high-quality software
- Troubleshoot application issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective long-term solutions
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while following established development standards and best practices
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience developing applications with C# and .NET Core
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL development
- Hands-on experience building applications within Microsoft Azure
- Experience implementing and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines
- Proficiency using Visual Studio for application development
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and testing best practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing applications within large enterprise environments
- Background supporting financial services or highly regulated industries
- Knowledge of Azure cloud architecture and cloud-native development principles
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and code quality tools
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
- Experience optimizing application performance and scalability
- Understanding of secure software development principles and application security best practices

Pay
The approximate pay range for this position is between $52.00 and $57.93 per hour. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
