About the role
Develops and modifies application programs and ad-hoc programs in support of a user department or a university/college program or function, under direct supervision. This position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. Personnel in this role are routinely reviewed to determine whether criminal history or continuous connections to the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from maintaining the security or integrity of the infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Codes, tests, debugs, modifies, and troubleshoots application programs and ad-hoc programs in accordance with shop standards.
- Develops, tests, and runs ad-hoc programs to create reports, rosters, and similar outputs.
- Assists with installation, testing, and troubleshooting of vendor-supported applications.
- Assists users with understanding, testing, and using programs, including running programs for users.
- Documents data structures, run streams, applications, programs, and other objects following generally accepted practices.
- Provides departmental support for enterprise systems; identifies problems with an application or function.
- Learns new technologies and techniques.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical, or professional discipline; or basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline.
- Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4-year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
- No prior experience is required.
