About the role
Our client, a leader in the autonomous vehicle industry, is looking for a skilled Application Administrator - Engineering Applications to join their team for a 6-month engagement. This project involves managing, maintaining, and optimizing their critical business applications, with a focus on engineering-specific tools. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running, work with both Windows and Linux environments, and contribute to cloud infrastructure efforts in AWS.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
- Installing, configuring, upgrading, and maintaining application software across Windows and Linux server environments.
- Monitoring application performance, troubleshooting issues, and resolving complex production problems in a timely manner.
- Developing and maintaining documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), application maps, and configuration guides.
- Managing user access, security permissions, and application-specific settings.
- Performing root cause analysis for recurring incidents and implementing preventative measures.
- Managing application licenses and providing usage metrics to the business.
- Participating in discussions related to hardware/storage cluster changes and coordinating migrations of on-premises applications to the AWS platform.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience as an Application Administrator, System Administrator, or in a related technical role.
- Demonstrated experience administering and supporting mission-critical enterprise applications, particularly for engineering teams.
- Proficient in administering and troubleshooting both Windows and Linux servers.
- Good working knowledge of core AWS services, with experience deploying and managing applications in the cloud.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation and system management.
- Basic knowledge of database concepts, SQL (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL), Active Directory, Security, Networking, and Storage.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
- Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team.
