Appliance Service Technician (Allentown, PA)
About the role
Bodewell, the official service team of GE Appliances, is seeking an Appliance Care Expert to join our growing team. As a technician, you'll combine hands-on repair skills with the power to deliver smart, lasting solutions. Your role is equal parts technician, educator, and brand ambassador.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and complete in-home repairs on GE Appliances' major appliances
- Use sound judgment to recommend repair vs. replacement based on cost-effectiveness and customer needs, prioritizing repairs whenever practical
- Promote and sell service contracts, water filters, and related products/appliances as appropriate, always focusing on value-driven solutions and the best customer experience
- Operate an assigned Bodewell service van to customer locations
- Accurately document repairs, routes, and work activities
- Participate in training sessions, meetings, and events to maintain industry expertise
- Manage inventory and maintenance of your service vehicle
- Deliver high-quality service and maintain strong customer satisfaction
- Follow all safety protocols to protect yourself and others
Requirements
- HS Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- 1+ years of experience with appliance repair, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or property maintenance
- Ability/experience diagnosing and repairing major appliances
- Excellent customer service and communication skills with a responsive, professional approach
- Basic computer aptitude including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite specifically Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams
- Ability to work a flexible schedule with some Saturdays as needed
- Have and maintain a valid state driver's license and successfully complete background check, physical, and drug screen
- Must have or be willing to obtain CFC Certification within 6 months
- Wear uniform & maintain standards of personal grooming & appearance consistent with GE Appliance values
- Self-directed and solid team player
- Ability to deescalate situations and rebuild customer confidence in our products
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodation, including, but not limited to:
- Ability to step up, into, and out of a van and sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to handle/work with parts/equipment which may be hot, cold, and/or wet
- Ability to use often powered hand tools and occasional use of vibratory tools/equipment
- Ability to handle and lift parts or materials min. of 77 lbs. lifting/carrying and 70 lb. pushing/pulling is required
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications: HS Diploma or GED, 1+ years of experience with appliance repair, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or property maintenance, excellent customer service and communication skills, basic computer aptitude, ability to work a flexible schedule with some Saturdays as needed, valid state driver's license, successful completion of background check, physical, and drug screen, must have or be willing to obtain CFC Certification within 6 months, wear uniform & maintain standards of personal grooming & appearance consistent with GE Appliance values, self-directed and solid team player, ability to deescalate situations and rebuild customer confidence in our products, ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodation

Competitive hourly rates: $24 – $34+ base, depending on experience, certifications, and location.
