Appian Developer

ICF’s Digital Modernization division is a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial, technology department seeking Senior Appian Developers to support upcoming needs with our federal customers. This division offers integrated, strategic IT and management consulting solutions to public and private-sector clients. ICF specializes in low-code, open-source, and cloud-native solutions for federal agencies, deploying over 1,300 technologists who have built and maintained over 700 systems for digital modernization projects. We combine public-sector domain expertise with platform partnerships to deliver scalable solutions that achieve mission outcomes and productivity improvements.

About the role

We are one of the largest federally focused Appian practices, with 85-90 trained consultants and a deep center of excellence. ICF supports professional growth through certifications, an expansive digital learning platform, and in-person training hosted by Appian. Based on your experience and interests, you may support growth-related activities such as RFIs, RFPs, prototypes, and oral presentations. Team members are expected to maintain appropriate certifications for their practice expertise.

Responsibilities

• Develop and configure Appian BPM solutions, including forms, reports, underlying logic, and interface components.
• Configure, debug, and integrate systems, including working with application servers like JBoss, Weblogic, or IIS.
• Collaborate on all phases of software development for large-scale, business-critical applications using Agile methodologies.
• Work with relational databases and SQL scripting.
• Support growth-related activities, including RFIs, RFPs, prototypes, and oral presentations.
• Maintain appropriate certifications for practice expertise.

Requirements

• 1+ years of recent hands-on experience with Appian BPM.
• 1+ years of experience developing Appian Plugins.
• 1+ years of experience with application servers (e.g., JBoss, Weblogic, IIS) as part of installation.
• 1+ years of experience in configuring, debugging, and systems integration.
• 1+ years of experience with relational databases and SQL scripting.
• 1+ years of experience in all phases of software development for large-scale business-critical applications following Agile methodologies.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• US Citizenship, Green Card, or valid Employee Authorization Documentation (required due to federal contract requirements).
• Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.
• Must reside and perform work in the United States (required for federal contract compliance).

Qualifications

• Certified Appian Level 1 Developer (Certified Associate Developer).
• Certified Level 2 or Level 3 Appian Developer (desired).
• Experience working with Appian Tempo.
• Java developer experience (strong plus).
• Recent work experience on federal government software development projects.
• Experience defining and documenting architecture for technology implementations using different architectural views.
• Exposure to common industry platforms and programming languages (e.g., Appian BPM, IBM WebSphere, Mule, LAMP/JBOSS, HADOOP, Java, Microsoft/.Net).
• Experience in Enterprise Application integration (SOA, ESB) and n-tier client-server architectures.
• Experience working with Appian Sites.
• Java developer with Maven builds experience (strong plus).

Pay

The pay range for this full-time position is $67,355.00 - $114,503.00. Final pay is determined by multiple factors, including relevant work experience, skills, certifications, geographic location, education, and contract provisions.
