APP – Trauma, block schedule - Montana (experienced required)
About the Role
Benefis Health System, a large trauma center in Great Falls, Montana, is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our trauma program.
This is a two APP model working a 7-on, 7-off schedule with no nights and no call. General duties include daily rounds on trauma patients, admissions and discharges, post-hospital follow-up visits, involvement in the trauma committee, and participation in staff education and training.
You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary trauma team, including General Surgeons, Orthopedic Trauma MDs and APPs, Neurosurgery, ENT, Facial Trauma, Plastics, Critical Care, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, and Inpatient Advanced Gastroenterology.
Facilities and Resources
- Large in-house air ambulance program (fixed-wing jet and helicopter) averaging 2-4 missions daily, with the flight team based in the ED
- 10 main ORs plus a Cysto Suite, 2 DaVinci XI Robots, 2 Cath Labs, a Hybrid OR, and a separate 3-room ASC
- 21-bed mixed ICU staffed 24/7 with critical care intensivists
- 33-bed Emergency Department with a recent $12 million complete remodel, staffed 24/7 by 2 emergency medicine physicians and APPs
- 9-bed RME Unit, 11-bed Critical Care Unit, and 13-bed Clinical Decision Unit
- Well-run, high-functioning department with a 30-35% admission rate

- IV pumps programmed by charts
- Bedside ultrasound in all trauma bays
- CT, X-ray, and ultrasound within the ED footprint
- Two-way radio for real-time communication
