About the role
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) role at Sanford Health focuses on providing expert clinical guidance in a specialized field, coordinating patient care quality initiatives, and managing pediatric feeding disorders.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates children for pediatric feeding disorders and manages enteral feeding including care of feeding tubes.
- Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team including psychologists, RNs, social workers, dietitians, and speech therapists.
- Manages failure to thrive cases and home NG NICU patients after discharge.
- Works in collaboration with providers and independently to provide care.
- Develops and establishes appropriate diagnoses based on patient information.
- Prescribes medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost as legally authorized.
- Maintains complete and detailed records of patients' health care plans and prognoses.
- Counsels patients and family members about self-management of health issues.
- Conducts research into the area of specialty and applies findings to improve patient care and clinical outcomes.
- Keeps up-to-date with regulatory processes and payer systems such as Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and private sources.
Requirements
- Licensed in North Dakota or have a master's degree in nursing.
- Completion of a nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
- At least 2 years of pediatric nursing experience.
- Current licensure by the applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice.
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances.
- Current certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or an equivalent nationally recognized body.
Qualifications
- Master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
- Licensing prior to August 1, 1995 in North Dakota, master's degree in nursing is preferred.
- Demonstrated current competence and provision of care, treatment, or services for an adequate volume of patients in the past twelve months, or completion of master’s/post-master’s degree program in the past twelve months.
- Experience must correlate to the privileges requested.
Skills
Extensive advanced knowledge of medical principles, practices, and techniques.

Salary commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Full time, 8 Hours - Day Shifts, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, No weekends, evenings, or holidays. Clinic only.
