Job Summary

The Pediatric Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care focused on improving quality of life for children with serious, chronic, or life-limiting illnesses. The NP works in collaboration with physicians, families and interdisciplinary teams to manage symptoms, support emotional and developmental needs, and guide complex decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
  • If Licensing prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred.
  • Experience in pediatric palliative care, hospice, oncology, or critical care preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
  • State Controlled Substance License (if required by State)
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.

About the Role

This clinician will join a team of physicians who provide palliative care to pediatric patients and families in inpatient pediatric settings (PICU, NICU, Peds Floor, and Ava's House). Additionally, they will provide care in the OB setting (inpatient high-risk OB and outpatient Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic.)
