APP - Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner | Medical Oncology
Job Summary
The Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care for patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions. This role involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with cancers, blood disorders, and related complications. The NP works collaboratively with physicians and a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care throughout the continuum of diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. If APRN was licensed prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred.
- Experience In Hematology/oncology Clinical Settings Preferred.
- Medical Oncology APPSchedule: Monday-Friday daytime hours. Rotating weekends (4 hours on Saturday and Sunday). It is every 9th weekend right now- changes with the number of APPs on the team.
- Clinic setting. Very little hospital- may admit someone
- New Grads considered with the right experience prior to APP degree.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
- Maintain current knowledge of advances in hematology and oncology care and treatments.
Position duties
- See oncology patients in clinic and infusion center settings
- Facilitate referrals to specialists, clinical trials, and supportive services
- Document all patient encounters, treatments, and care plans in compliance with institutional and regulatory standards
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research, and continuing education related to hematology/oncology

Practice Details
- This position will be in medical oncology in a team of 5 other APPs working closely with the physician team to provide high quality oncology care at a Top 100 Cancer Center
