APP - Pediatric Nurse Practitioner | Pediatrics

Facility: Medical Building 2, Sioux Falls, SD

About the role

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents. This position will provide coverage at Lifescape two mornings per week, in addition to primary care general pediatrics at MB2 Children's.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough physical examinations and health assessments for children of all ages.
• Diagnose and treat common pediatric illnesses and injuries.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as labs, X-rays, and screenings.
• Manage chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and developmental disorders.
• Provide immunizations, preventive care, and anticipatory guidance.
• Educate patients and families on nutrition, growth, development, and disease prevention.
• Coordinate referrals to specialists and community resources as needed.
• Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record.
• Participate in health promotion and disease prevention programs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. If APRN was licensed prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
• Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
• State Controlled Substance License (if required by State).
• National board certification as Pediatric Primary Care (CPNP-PC) or (PPCNP-BC), Family (FNP-C) or (FNP-BC).
• Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.
• Experience in Pediatric Primary Care preferred.
