API Tester (Automation)

About the role

We are seeking a QA/API Testing professional with 5+ years of experience to join our team. In this role, you will perform comprehensive testing of RESTful APIs and microservices, collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing of RESTful APIs and microservices
• Design, develop, and execute API test cases using Postman, Swagger, and automation frameworks
• Validate request/response payloads, authentication mechanisms, status codes, error handling, and data integrity
• Execute backend testing using SQL against relational databases
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Developers, DevOps, and Product teams during Agile/Scrum ceremonies
• Participate in test planning, defect tracking, root cause analysis, and release validation
• Develop and maintain automated API test suites within CI/CD pipelines

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Computer Science
• 5+ years of QA/API Testing experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, and REST API testing
• Experience in API automation using Java + Rest Assured or Python-based frameworks
• Strong SQL skills for backend data validation
• Experience with JSON, XML, OAuth, JWT, API security validation, and microservices architecture
• Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar CI/CD tools
• Experience with defect management tools such as Jira
