Automation Tester

About the role

Automation Tester position in Olympia, WA, US. Requires 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance with a focus on functional, automation, and API testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for functional testing.
• Identify, document, and track software defects and inconsistencies.
• Collaborate with developers and product managers to understand requirements and provide feedback on design and implementation.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using industry-standard tools and frameworks.
• Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline to ensure continuous testing.
• Analyze test results, identify issues, and work with the development team to resolve them.
• Create and execute API test plans and test cases to validate API functionality, performance, and security using tools such as Postman, SoapUI, or similar.
• Ensure thorough coverage of API endpoints and maintain API test documentation.
• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback from a testing perspective.
• Ensure compliance with QA standards and best practices; continuously improve testing processes and methodologies.
• Work closely with cross‑functional teams including development, product management, and operations.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to provide updates on testing progress and issues.
• Mentor and guide junior QA engineers as needed.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance with a focus on functional, automation, and API testing.
• Hands‑on experience with functional/manual testing, automation testing, and API testing.
• Proficiency utilizing Postman to create test scripts for RESTful APIs, web services, and microservices.
• Experience performing manual and automated tests to ensure smooth integration of software components and systems.
• Experience in defect reporting and test documentation.
• Database testing experience.
