About the Role
The Asian Pacific Islander Political Alliance (API PA) is seeking passionate individuals to join our team as API PA Lead Paid Canvassers. This temporary position, running from late August to early November 2026, focuses on engaging Asian Pacific Islander voters in Pennsylvania through door-to-door canvassing, voter registration, and education on elections and candidates.
Responsibilities
- Engage in face-to-face conversations with voters using the MiniVAN Canvassing app
- Track conversations in the canvassing platform
- Participate in canvassing training and debriefing sessions
- Attend organization-wide meetings and events as directed by supervisor
- Assist with transportation between canvassing sites as needed
Requirements
- Vaccinated against COVID-19 and boosted (exemptions for valid religious and medical reasons)
- Physically able to walk up to 2.5 miles per shift
- Access to a cell phone and vehicle
- Tech literacy (cell phones, tablets, Google Maps, data entry using an app)
- Conversational fluency in English
Qualifications
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills
- Ability to work independently
- Personal knowledge of and/or experience working with Asian American communities
- Understanding of and commitment to API PA’s values
- Ability to lead check-ins and debriefs with other canvassers
Skills
- Conversational fluency in an Asian language (highly desirable)
- Prior canvassing or equivalent experience (appreciated, but not required)
Schedule
30-33 hours per week, 6-8 hour shifts, including weekends. Temporary position from late August to early November 2026.
Pay
$23/hour
