APEX Developer

Client: NYC Government | Location: Brooklyn, NY 11201 | 35 hours per week | Interview type: in‑person (hybrid preferred, 3 days onsite).

Responsibilities

• Develop Oracle APEX applications using version 18.2 or higher, preferably 21.3 or above.
• Collaborate with large development teams, working in parallel on shared codebases.
• Utilize JavaScript libraries/frameworks (e.g., jQuery, Oracle JET) to create modern user interfaces.
• Design and develop backend Oracle databases (11g/12c or higher), including packages, procedures, functions, materialized views, and complex SQL queries.
• Work with DevOps and server administrators to investigate and troubleshoot deployment and infrastructure issues.
• Follow the architecture team’s coding standards and best practices.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

• Expert‑level knowledge of Oracle APEX and hands‑on experience customizing look & feel with HTML and CSS.
• Strong familiarity with the APEX Universal Theme and out‑of‑the‑box CSS.
• Extensive experience with JavaScript libraries used in APEX (jQuery, Oracle JET).
• Proficiency in developing and consuming REST APIs and using Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS).
• Good understanding of XML, JSON, and the DOM.
• Advanced skills in Oracle 11g/12c (or higher) database design and development (SQL & PL/SQL).
• Strong PL/SQL coding ability and familiarity with the APEX Application Express API.
• Ability to integrate CSS classes and JavaScript events within SQL and write application processes to handle those events.
• Knowledge of Oracle views, materialized views, database links, and refresh methods.
• Experience creating and remodeling legacy data models for Human Resource Management Systems.
• Capability to analyze and resolve complex infrastructure, resource, and application deployment issues.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Knowledge of Oracle Forms, Reports, and OBIEE reporting tools.
• Experience with database migration, performance tuning, and optimization in a 12c environment.
• Familiarity with ERWIN or other data‑modeling tools.
• Experience in ETL processes, data loading, delta loads, and data migration.
• Proficiency in developing and storing JSON files using Oracle 12c best practices.
• Experience creating custom APEX plug‑ins.
• Experience with Oracle APEX database installation and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
