Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice intake, coding, approval workflows, and payment execution
- Manage and mentor AP staff, including workload distribution, training, and performance oversight
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments (ACH, wire, check)
- Review and approve invoices, payment batches, and account reconciliations for accuracy and compliance
- Maintain and monitor the vendor master file, ensuring data integrity and proper documentation
- Resolve escalated vendor inquiries, payment discrepancies, and internal stakeholder concerns
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards
- Lead month-end close activities related to AP, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting
- Support external and internal audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation initiatives to increase efficiency
- Partner with procurement, accounting, and finance teams to streamline procure-to-pay processes
- Prepare and analyze AP reports, including aging, cash requirements, and disbursement trends
- Aid in the development and documentation of AP policies and procedures
Requirements
- Experience leading an AP team, working in a high-volume environment
- Strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- CPA certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounts payable management
- Proven ability to manage and mentor a team
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Access
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
