About the Role
Assist in conducting an intensified learning experience for students in the assigned area and relieve the teacher of various non-instructional duties. This role supports both teachers and students in achieving program objectives while maintaining a productive and orderly classroom environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the teacher in managing student arrival and departure times.
- Perform supportive, primarily non-instructional tasks for certified staff.
- Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher.
- Help keep the classroom neat and orderly.
- Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning activities.
- Supervise students throughout the day, including in halls, lunchrooms, auditoriums, gyms, and playgrounds.
- Assist with administrative records and prepare required reports.
- Help with copying, organizing, and filing materials for student distribution.
- Manage inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Keep the teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
- Participate in staff-development training programs to improve job performance.
- Attend faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
- Decorate the classroom for special events, PTA meetings, holidays, etc.
- Perform all other assigned tasks and duties.
- Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. Remote work or alternate work arrangements are not available for this campus-based position, as on-site attendance and duties are essential.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or USA equivalency.
- Associate Degree, 48 college credit hours, or passing an academic assessment.
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
- Six months of relevant work experience or completion of a specific training program for teacher assistants is preferred.
- Demonstrated initiative and willingness to follow verbal and written instructions.
- General knowledge of child growth, development, and behavior characteristics.
- Flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing environment.
- Willingness to stay current with the latest developments in the profession.
Pay
Minimum Salary: $29,528.00
Median Salary: $36,900.00
