Basic Functions
- Conduct intensified learning experiences for students in assigned areas
- Relieve teachers of various non-instructional duties
- Assist in managing student arrival and departure times
- Perform supportive tasks, primarily non-instructional, for a certified teacher
- Help achieve program or activity objectives
- Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom
- Tutor students individually or in small groups
- Supervise students throughout the day, inside and outside the classroom
- Monitor hall, lunchroom, auditorium, gym, and playground
- Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare reports
- Aid in copying, organizing, and filing materials
- Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment
- Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students
- Participate in staff development training programs
- Attend faculty meetings and special events as assigned
- Help decorate the classroom for special events, PTA meetings, holidays, etc.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or USA equivalency
- Associate Degree or 48 College credit hours or pass an academic assessment
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
- Six months of knowledge and skills acquired through work experience or successful completion of a specific training program for teacher assistants preferred
- Demonstrated initiative and willingness to follow instructions
- Demonstrated general knowledge of child growth and development
- Demonstrated flexibility to cope with changes
- Willingness to remain current with professional developments

Pay
Minimum Salary: $28,342.00
Median Salary: $35,424.00
