ANTICIPATED: PRE-K Bilingual Teacher Assistant

About the role

Assist in conducting intensified learning experiences for students in the assigned area and relieve certified teachers of various primarily non-instructional tasks. Support teachers and students in achieving program objectives, maintain discipline in the teacher’s absence, and provide academic and behavioral support.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow up on learning activities.
• Help students with daily work and finding appropriate activities for homework.
• Review class activities and daily homework assignments.
• Supervise class breakfast and lunch activities.
• Communicate with parents to provide updates on student progress, homework, and social behavior.
• Distribute informative letters to parents regarding their child’s progress.
• Assist in filing, organizing, and maintaining student records, attendance, and files.
• Perform all other assigned tasks and duties.

Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job.

Requirements

• Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S. equivalency).
• One of the following: Associate degree, 48 college credit hours, or passing an academic assessment.
• Paraprofessional certificate required from the State Board of Certification.
• One year of experience working with children.
• Demonstrated general knowledge of child growth/development and behavior characteristics.
• Ability to work with people from diverse ethnic groups.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Initiative and willingness to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
• Willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. A remote working environment or alternate work arrangement is not available for this campus-based position.

Minimum Salary: $29,528.00
Median Salary: $36,900.00
