Anticipated: Bilingual Pre-K Teacher Assistant

Location: Montessori Academy at Onesimo Hernandez.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting intensified learning experiences for students in the assigned area and relieve the certified teacher of primarily non‑instructional tasks.
• Assist the teacher and students in achieving program or activity objectives.
• Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher.
• Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow‑up learning activities.
• Help students with daily work and identify appropriate homework activities.
• Review class activities and daily homework.
• Supervise class breakfast and lunch activities.
• Communicate with parents to provide updates on student progress, homework, and social behavior.
• Distribute informative letters to parents regarding their child's progress.
• Assist in filing and organizing materials for record retention and distribution.
• Assist in maintaining student records, attendance, and files.
• Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

Qualifications

• Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency) plus one of the following: associate degree, 48 college credit hours, or passing an academic assessment.
• Paraprofessional certificate required from the State Board of Certification.
• At least one year of experience working with children.
• General knowledge of child growth, development, and behavior characteristics.
• Ability to work with people from diverse ethnic groups.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Initiative and willingness to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
• Willingness to stay current with the latest developments in the profession.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to the job. Remote work or alternate work arrangements are not available for campus‑based positions; regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is essential.

Pay

Minimum Salary: $29,528.00
Median Salary: $36,900.00
