It is the responsibility of each lead teacher to create a classroom learning environment and culture that aligns with the Educational Plan. All lead teachers are accountable for the academic, social, and behavioral outcomes of their classroom. Collaboration with other teachers, staff, and administration is expected to foster an outstanding learning culture. Lead teachers must adhere to all processes outlined in the school’s charter and remain flexible to support the evolving needs of the school.
Responsibilities
- Complete weekly lesson plans with all required items (see appendix B).
- Align instructional targets and objectives to the Learning Objectives Guide (LOG) for each subject area, including re-teaching weak target skills.
- Attend and participate in school-wide professional development sessions.
- Develop positive relationships with parents, students, and KCCS faculty.
- Follow the classroom schedule created by the Leadership Team.
- Administer assessments according to the KCCS Assessment Calendar.
- Collect, upload, and analyze all assessment data (upload into PowerSchool and Performance Matters).
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Implement CSI Action Plan items.
- Communicate student data to the leadership team, parents, and students through data meetings, Parent-Teacher Conferences, progress reports, and report cards.
- Participate in school events and extracurricular activities.
- Follow school-wide behavior management systems.
- Adhere to the KCCS Employee and Student/Parent Handbook.
- Establish effective classroom management techniques.
- Implement all items listed on the KCCS Management Checklist (see appendix C).
- Update student work displays monthly.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and hazard-free learning environment.
- Use technology to enhance lesson plans and instruction.
- Participate in the Mentor/Coaching program as necessary.
- Complete 8 days of pre-service training at the start of each school year.
- Keep evidence and artifacts that support the goals in the KCCS accountability plan.
- Undergo annual reviews at the end of each school year.
Requirements
- Valid NYS Teaching Certificate (preferred).
- Master’s Degree.
- Urban teaching experience (preferred).
- Excellent record-keeping skills.
- Proficiency in computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication skills.
- Welcoming and warm disposition.
Schedule
Hours: 7:45 AM – 3:45 PM. Regular attendance is required.
Pay
Competitive salary range: $43,268 – $80,711.
