About the role

The Annual Giving Officer, reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, is responsible for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of Boston Ballet’s giving circles, with a focus on the Friends’ Circle and Young Partners programs. This exempt position collaborates closely with the development team to maximize donor experiences and support organizational growth.

Responsibilities

  • Directly solicit and manage donors giving between $250 and $2,500 annually.
  • Build and maintain relationships with giving circle members, serving as the first point of contact for inquiries via phone and email, and providing high-level customer service and stewardship.
  • Drive the annual solicitation of Friends’ Circle and Young Partners donors, including tracking renewals, sending timely notices, and focusing on strategic acquisitions to grow the programs.
  • Collaborate with the Annual Giving team and Major Gifts to support stewardship of Friends, Young Partners, Benefactors, and Visionaries’ Circle programs.
  • Work with the Director of Annual Giving to develop the annual strategy, benefits structure, and communications plan for giving circles.
  • Set and work toward goals for renewal, upgrade, and acquisition revenue for the Friends and Young Partners programs.
  • Lead the use of Tessitura CRM to pull reports and analyze donor data.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to plan timelines and leverage resources for delivering materials and communications.
  • Use project management software to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery of Annual Giving materials and communications.
  • Create feedback loops and use data to continuously improve the efficacy of Annual Giving materials and communications.
  • Actively seek opportunities to learn and generate strategies for improving Annual Giving communication and engagement.
  • Assist with donor events throughout the season, including onsite representation and planning support.
  • Support Development team operations at the Opera House during Company productions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in development or annual giving preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborative, solution-seeking, and ambitious work style.
  • Demonstrated discretion, tact, and good judgment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent data management skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Results-oriented with a commitment to meeting benchmarks and goals.
  • Ability to motivate high-level donors and volunteers with a high degree of initiative.
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends, particularly during the production season.
  • Passion for advancing Boston Ballet, its programs, and dance as an art form.

Pay

Salary range: $50,050 to $55,510 annually. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on qualifications, experience, operational needs, and other considerations. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range.
