Responsibilities
- Operate shuttle buses and/or vans ranging in passenger capacity on various road and climatic conditions.
- Know and obey all local and State traffic laws and employer work rules.
- Perform preliminary vehicle inspections before, during, and at the conclusion of work shift.
- Maintain route schedule, stopping at all designated pick-up points, providing passenger information, assisting passengers in boarding and disembarking as needed.
- Timely report incidents/accidents and complete documentation required by procedures and/or supervisory instructions.
- Provide customer services to patients, visitors, and public.
- Greet customers, families, and visitors in a professional manner and determine needs.
- Direct customers to medical and health-related services.
- Communicate effectively and tactfully with customers, families, and visitors recognizing their age, needs, abilities, and physical condition.
- Operate wheelchair lift for transporting passengers in wheelchairs.
- Maintain professional driving skills at all times.
- Maintain equipment, including handheld radio and cell phone for shuttle tracking purposes.
- Perform routine services such as fueling, maintaining fluid levels, checking tire pressures, and other similar tasks.
- Clean the inside and outside of the vehicles including windows, seats, dash, panels, and floor.
- Report all unsafe conditions to appropriate supervisor including change in patient status, broken or malfunctioning equipment, or anything that could be a potential threat or danger to a passenger.
- Report any accidents, violations of policy, safety hazards, or unusual occurrences to supervisor and/or lead immediately.
- Provide suggestions to management to improve overall quality and day-to-day operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Level I: Two (2) years professional driving experience.
- Level II: Four (4) years professional driving experience.
- Level III: Six (6) years professional driving experience.
- Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License and Class C CDL Passenger Endorsement.
- Defensive Driving and Safety Certification identified by ANTHC Passenger Assistance Safety and Securement Certification.
