About the role
The City of Pearland Animal Services division seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Animal Control Officer to join our team. We are committed to protecting, sheltering, and caring for animals, providing educational programs, supporting residents during disasters, and promoting pet adoptions.
Responsibilities
- Responding to calls and requests for service.
- Answering the phone and providing customer service to callers, visitors, and citizens.
- Caring for animals at the shelter; assisting with kennel and office work; cleaning the shelter.
- Educating citizens on the proper care of animals.
- Performing public safety duties such as quarantines and bite reports.
- Driving and maintaining your work vehicle.
- Enforcing ordinances.
- Euthanizing animals humanely and skillfully, minimizing trauma.
- Lending a helping hand to your team as needed.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 3 months experience in animal handling.
Qualifications
We prefer Basic ACO and Euthanasia certifications, but training will be provided for our perfect fit.
Skills
Passion for all animals, excellent communication skills, ability to handle stressful situations, and a strong work ethic.
