About the Role

Join the JAX Animal Care team and be part of a mission to improve human health worldwide. This is a full-time position that offers a dynamic and supportive work environment. New team members undergo a 12-week paid training program with classroom and on-the-job training to learn all aspects of mouse husbandry, animal science, and genetics.

Animal Care is part of the production team at JAX and requires attention to detail, working in a highly controlled clean room environment, and continuous physical movement in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Learn to maintain JAX mice and monitor animal health and welfare.
• Maintain a sanitary environment.
• Prepare animals for shipping.
• Accurately record detailed and organized data.

Requirements

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
• Prior work experience.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds.
• Basic knowledge of computer skills preferred.
• Successful completion of Primary Animal Care Training and the 90-day introductory period is required for advancement.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Open availability, including weekends and holidays; overtime may be required as needed.
• Employment requires successful completion of references, background check, and pre-employment physical.

Pay

$21.50 per hour with regularly scheduled pay increases. Ability to increase pay by 25% in 2 years.
