About the role

We are seeking a Kennel Assistant to join our team! As a Kennel Assistant, you will be providing daily care for the animals we are responsible for, ensuring all of their needs are met. The ideal candidate loves animals, has basic knowledge of good animal handling procedures, and works well independently and within a team environment.

The ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Loves working with dogs and cats of all sizes and personalities.
  • Is dependable and arrives ready to work.
  • Enjoys staying active throughout the day.
  • Pays attention to detail.
  • Treats every pet as if it were their own.
  • Communicates professionally with both clients and coworkers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate daily care for boarding and hospitalized pets.
  • Feed animals according to individualized care instructions.
  • Exercise, walk, and socialize pets while ensuring their safety.
  • Maintain clean, sanitized kennels, play yards, and treatment areas.
  • Bathe dogs and cats, perform nail trims, and clean ears as directed.
  • Monitor each pet's health, behavior, appetite, and activity level.
  • Maintain accurate medical and boarding records.
  • Assist clients with boarding check-in/check-out and Doggy Day Care services.
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and reception staff to ensure excellent patient care.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with animals
  • Familiarity with animal handling procedures and best practices
  • Bathing both dogs and cats, nail trims, and ear cleaning
  • Strong organizational skills
