Primary Responsibility
Under the supervision of the Animal Resource Manager, this position assists with the care of animals and facilities at Vet Tech. The Animal Care Assistant supports veterinarians and veterinary technicians in ensuring quality veterinary care for all pets, advocates for pets, educates clients on all aspects of pet health, and ensures a safe and effective hospital environment.
Pre-requisites (Qualifications Standards)
- Education and experience sufficient to meet the rigors of the position.
- Examples may include a High School Diploma/GED and 1 year’s related work experience.
- Knowledge of large animals is preferred but no required.
- Must be a current student at Colorado Mountain College or a graduate of the Vet Tech program.

Pay and Benefits
- Hiring pay rate: $20.85 per hour.

Special Conditions of Employment
- Successful completion of a background check including a motor vehicles records report required.
- Incumbents in this position will adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College while performing all duties assigned.
Working Conditions
- This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs.
- Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally.
- Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.
