About the role

This individual will be a faculty member in the Department of Anesthesiology and will report directly to the Vice Chairman, or his designee.

Responsibilities

  • Develop competitive research projects and design and submit timely competitive research-oriented grants and contracts to funding agencies.
  • Represent the Department at various international, national, state and local meetings, and make professional presentations to students, colleagues, support groups and community groups.
  • Publish research findings in top refereed journals, book chapters, and books.
  • Work with faculty and staff to assist other investigators in their career development and obtain research funding within the Department and from other disciplines.
  • Develop and teach relevant courses in the Department of Anesthesiology as assigned by the Department Chair, or their designee.
  • Participate in the development and mentoring of residents, fellows, students and faculty in the capacity of advisor.
  • Participate in external, institutional and Departmental committees.

Requirements

  • Broad training in Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) gene therapy, microbiology, physiology, pharmacology, molecular biology, as well as animal models of human disease.
  • Extramural research funding and/or the ability to develop competitive research projects and design and submit timely competitive research-oriented grants and contracts to funding agencies.
  • Capability to participate in team science and interactions with multiple departments and institutions as well as train and support technicians, students, fellows, and faculty.

Qualifications

  • PhD; and/or MD; and/or DVM with a minimum of 3+ years of relevant professional experience.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills in writing and spoken English.

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
