Job Description

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at Singing River Health System provides anesthesia services to patients under the direction of a licensed physician and following nursing service protocols. Responsibilities include administering and monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures. The CRNA also implements and recommends changes to the System Chief CRNA and reports to the Medical Director of Anesthesia for clinical and technical issues.

• Administers anesthesia services
• Maintains patient safety and comfort
• Monitors patients during and after procedures
• Implements and recommends changes to anesthesia protocols
• Reports to System Chief CRNA for administrative issues
• Reports to Medical Director of Anesthesia for clinical and technical issues

Qualifications

Graduate of an anesthesia educational program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) or its predecessor. Must be insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by Singing River Health System. Must hold a current Registered Nurse/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license in the state of Mississippi and comply with any applicable state statutory or regulatory requirements concerning the advanced practice of nursing.

• Graduate of an anesthesia educational program accredited by AANA or its predecessor
• Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by SRHS
• Holds a current Registered Nurse/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license in Mississippi

Experience

A minimum of two (2) years’ appropriate anesthesia practice and experience is preferred.

Physical Demands

Work is moderately active, involving sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and travel to other facilities within the SRHS service area. Work involves exerting a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work involves using many physical motions in performing daily work activities; subject to exposure of body fluids, sputum, and tissues, which may carry the hazard of infectious disease. Work involves using repetitive motions: substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers while operating standard office equipment such as a computer keyboard.

Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required. Must have the ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.
