Job Description
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at Singing River Health System provides anesthesia services to patients under the direction of a licensed physician and following nursing service protocols. Responsibilities include administering and monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures. The CRNA also implements and recommends changes to established policies and works closely with the System Chief CRNA and Medical Director of Anesthesia.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an anesthesia educational program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA)
- Current Registered Nurse/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license in Mississippi
- Complies with statutory or regulatory requirements for the advanced practice of nursing
- BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant anesthesia practice and experience preferred
Experience
Reports to the System Chief CRNA for administrative issues and the Medical Director of Anesthesia for clinical, professional, or technical issues. Supervises none.
Physical Demands
Work involves moderate activity, frequent movement between office and facility locations, and occasional travel within the SRHS service area. Requires lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and using many physical motions, including repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements. Subject to exposure to bodily fluids, sputum, and tissues, which may carry infectious disease risks. Must be able to work extended periods without undue fatigue and adhere to assigned schedules, including potential off days, shifts, or weekends.
Mental Demands
Requires keen mental faculties, assessment, and decision-making abilities. Must communicate effectively in person and by phone, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrates emotional stability, works under pressure, meets deadlines, maintains collaborative relationships, and multi-tasks in complex situations.
Special Demands
Must demonstrate keen mental faculties, assessment, and decision-making abilities. Superior communication skills are required, including speaking and enunciation. Emotional stability and the ability to work under pressure are essential. Must maintain collaborative relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.
