About the role
Island Health is seeking a full‑time Anesthesiologist to join a team of five colleagues in a busy anesthesia practice at Cowichan District Hospital. The hospital is a 134‑bed acute‑care facility with a collegial atmosphere among general and specialty medical staff. Services include anesthesia, internal medicine, pediatrics, radiology, and a range of surgical specialties (general, orthopedic, urology, obstetrics and gynecology, ENT, ophthalmology, and plastic surgery). The busy emergency department is staffed by dedicated ER physicians. A new Cowichan District Hospital, expected to be completed in 2027, will add over 200 inpatient beds and expanded OR and ICU capacity with state‑of‑the‑art equipment. Faculty are affiliated with the University of British Columbia’s Island Medical Program and provide teaching to medical students and residents.

Fee‑for‑Service.

- Retention Flat Fee: $6,509
- Relocation Funding: up to $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
- Recruitment Incentive: $10,000 (full‑time)
