Duties
- Provides quality and versatile anesthesia care.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Administer sedation or pain medications using intravenous, local, caudal or spinal methods during surgical and other medical procedures.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for patients and monitor their pain medications before, during, and after surgery; address adverse complications or reactions; document anesthesia administration and patient conditions.
- Determine risks associated with medical procedures by gathering medical histories, performing examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, and consulting with other healthcare professionals.
- Manage airway management and life support during emergency surgeries.
- Monitor patients post-surgery until they are stable enough to transition to another location or leave the facility.
- Coordinate anesthesiological services and work with other professionals to develop procedures and plans; oversee the duties of medical technicians, nurses, and other healthcare support staff.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding post-procedure care and potential complications; instruct on preventive measures and improving health.
- Collaborate with other medical professionals to create care plans and deliver high-quality patient care.
- Conduct research to advance the field of anesthesiology.
Qualifications
- Medical degree required.
- Board certification in anesthesiology is mandatory.
- A minimum of two years of progressive work experience in a multispecialty physician group model is preferred.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for collaborating with various clinical staff.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control techniques is necessary.
- Understanding of growth and development across the lifespan and the ability to assess data reflective of patient requirements are important.
- Proficiency in computer technology is required.
- The ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work independently is crucial.
- A strong sense of ethics and the ability to manage conflicts and resolve problems are expected.
