Anesthesia Technician

The Anesthesia Technician position at Mayo Clinic is located in Rochester, Minnesota. Mayo Clinic is a leading healthcare provider known for its excellence in medical care and research.

Responsibilities

• Support anesthesia and nursing teams in surgical and procedural areas
• Respond to patient-specific needs including blood, medications, supply and equipment during the surgical procedure
• Ensure proper delivery of blood products and medications
• Operate surgical equipment under the direction of a licensed provider
• Adequately stock ORs and pre/post rooms with appropriate quantity of supplies and required equipment
• Clean and prepare ORs, procedure and pre/post rooms for the next patient to ensure safe and efficient operation
• Clean equipment and implement infection control policies to support anesthesia practices
• Be an active member of the Anesthesia OR emergency response/code team and ensure all emergency safety equipment is available and in working order
• Assist in patient intake with tasks such as obtaining height, weight, and vitals and attaching other appropriate monitoring devices in specified pre/post areas

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Minimum of one year of clinical/hospital experience
• Proficient in speaking and reading English
• Computer skills required
• Self-directed and able to make independent decisions
• Experience working in a surgical area preferred
• Experience with direct patient care, CNA or PCA preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team setting
• Strong independent problem-solving skills to respond to unpredictable situations, able to multitask, and be flexible with changes in the work flow
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Working skills and knowledge of Microsoft computer systems
• Adequate use of both hands and the ability to lift over 20 lbs., walk long distances and kneel/bend occasionally along with long periods of standing
• BLS Certified or the ability to be obtained within six months of hire

This position is Nonexempt.

Compensation Detail

The compensation range for this position is $20.46 - 28.25 per hour. Compensation may vary based on education, experience, and internal equity.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is Full Time, with hours of 80 every 2 weeks, Monday through Friday from 2pm-10:30pm.
