Anesthesia Tech Team Leader

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Aids anesthesiologists with the preparation and placement of brain and nerve function monitors.
• Aids anesthesiologists during cases both inside and outside the operating room.
• Prepares age-appropriate anesthesia equipment, monitors, and airways.
• Maintains and transports specialty devices used in the clinical area.
• Assists providers with transporting patients to and from anesthetizing locations.
• Supervises the maintenance of anesthesia equipment.
• Acts as a department project leader, committee leader, or specialty team leader.
• Participates in the development of information, programs, or projects for the division.
• May set up and troubleshoot the intra-aortic balloon pump per Departmental guidelines, if required.
• Ensures all staff are trained on all anesthesia equipment, troubleshooting, and setup.
• Serves as a mentor/preceptor and completes preceptor training.
• Identifies performance improvement activities and facilitates projects to carry out improvement initiatives.
• Attends institutional and departmental health, safety, and infection control in-services by established deadlines.

Skills & Requirements

• H.S. diploma or GED required.
• BLS - Cert-Basic Life Support by American Heart Association required in addition to one of the following:
• CER-A-T - Cert-Cert Anesthesia TECH by American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT)
• Completion of an anesthesia technician training program approved by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT)
• Associate’s degree in applied science in a healthcare field with 7 years of experience
• 5 years of experience as an anesthesia technician required
