Andrology Lab Assistant - Rochester, NY - Tuesday and Thursday
About the role
The Laboratory Administrative Assistant is responsible for aiding the laboratory in administrative areas by assisting patients, performing laboratory clinical verifications, data entries, and administrative duties. Minor technical work includes daily Quality Control, preparing next day patient paperwork, and inventory duties. This position requires flexibility, the willingness to take on multiple tasks and roles, and work with instruction or direction from the Laboratory Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Follows the laboratory’s procedures for reporting and maintaining records of patient test results - specifically patient medical records.
- Studies and adheres to the laboratory’s operating manual while becoming familiar with quality control policies, documents all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
- Participates in laboratory operations and meetings as needed.
- Confirms patients’ identity for each laboratory procedure performed.
- Comforts patients by anticipating patient’s anxieties; answers patient’s questions as permitted; maintains neat and clean laboratory areas.
- Affirms quality care by adhering to therapeutic standards; follows practice, physician and laboratory division philosophies, as well as standards of care set by the state and other governing agency regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED – required
- Associate degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science - preferred
Qualifications
- Ability to physically lift equipment and supplies
- Knowledge of OSHA and HIPPA policies and procedures related to the lab and the ability to understand and interpret pertinent policies and procedures clearly and accurately
Skills
- Electronic Medical Records experience - preferred
- Excel at Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)

Schedule
This position is a per diem position requiring coverage on a weekly basis every Tuesday and Thursday.
