About the Role
This position is for a Software Engineering Summer Internship at Motorola Solutions in Schaumburg, Illinois or Plantation, Florida. You will work with one of the groups that develop and test software for products at the core of Motorola Solutions communications systems, supporting mission-critical communications for organizations such as Police, Fire, EMS, DEA, Customs and Border Patrol, and others.
Software Engineers at Motorola Solutions are involved in the design and development of state-of-the-art microprocessor-based digital communication systems. Software development phases include requirements capture, design, implementation, and test, conducted using mature software development processes such as TDD and Agile methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements capture, design, implementation, and testing.
- Develop software for microprocessor-based digital communication systems using Agile and Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies.
- Collaborate in a team environment to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, or an MS student with work authorization (F1 Visa on CPT accepted only for master’s-level students).
Skills
- Knowledge of Java, Android Studio, and Android SDK.
- Experience with embedded software development using Object-Oriented Design.
- Knowledge of C/C++ and/or Python is a plus.
- Familiarity with software development in the Linux kernel is a plus.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodology is a plus.
- Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) is a plus.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
