Android Developer - Conversational Search

About the role

You will help us build Redfin’s next-generation AI-powered home search experience. This team creates intuitive, delightful, and deeply integrated conversational experiences that help users discover, evaluate, and act with greater confidence. This is one of Redfin’s most ambitious and visible product initiatives for 2026.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement complex Android features that power conversational and AI-assisted experiences within the Redfin app.
• Build intuitive, high-performance UI that integrates intelligent capabilities into core search and listing flows.
• Drive architectural decisions for conversational interfaces.
• Collaborate with your teammates by reviewing code, writing documentation, refining best practices, and building maintainable and testable codebases.
• Work closely with our product and design teams to understand user and business needs.
• Drive the team forward in Android best practices and design principles, bringing in cutting-edge industry trends.

Requirements

• You have 3+ years of development experience with at least 3 years of practical experience building Android applications in Kotlin and Java.
• You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively across experience levels and disciplines, and you disagree constructively with respect for others’ perspectives.
• You stay current with modern Android development practices and continuously raise the bar for code quality, architecture, and maintainability.
• You love working with a smart, talented team because you know that makes you better.
• You are curious about emerging AI-powered user experiences and excited to help shape the future of conversational interfaces in real estate.

Skills

Experience with Kotlin and Java for Android development. Strong understanding of Android architecture and design patterns. Familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively. Proficient in version control systems like Git. Experience with testing frameworks like JUnit. Knowledge of Android Jetpack components.

Pay

$107,400.00 - $145,200.00 annually.

Schedule

The role may include participation in an on-call rotation to support production systems and ensure service reliability. On-call responsibilities may include coverage during nights and weekends. Frequency and scheduling will be determined by team needs and communicated accordingly.
