Ancillary Lab Technician

About the role

The Center for Pain is seeking a dedicated Ancillary Lab Tech to join our dynamic team and contribute to providing exceptional care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform specimen collection procedures following established protocols and standards.
• Interact with patients in a professional and compassionate manner to explain procedures, alleviate concerns, and ensure patient comfort during specimen collection.
• Accurately label specimens with patient information and ensure proper documentation of collection details, including date, time, and type of specimen.
• Maintain cleanliness and sterility of collection equipment and work area to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of collection supplies, ensuring an adequate stock of materials is available at all times.
• Participate in quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of collected specimens, including performing proficiency testing and adhering to quality assurance protocols.
• Adhere to all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures governing specimen collection, including HIPAA regulations and laboratory safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a medical or healthcare setting is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle patient inquiries and concerns with empathy.
• Proficient in basic computer skills (MS Office, electronic health records, etc.).
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
