Anatomical Lab Assistant- AZ- Anatomy

About the role

The Anatomical Laboratory Assistant supports the Anatomical Laboratory Manager in preparing and maintaining laboratories and learning spaces for academic activities across multiple courses. This role focuses on laboratory operations and does not involve research.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, repair, and organization of laboratories (three anatomical, one multipurpose, and several other learning spaces), instruments, equipment, models, supply rooms, and AV rooms.
• Assist the Anatomical Laboratory Manager with record keeping, processing, maintenance, and disposal of donors and non-human specimens.
• Set up all aspects of laboratories—including equipment, models, specimens, consumables, and course materials—prior to each course, under the oversight of the Course Director and/or Anatomical Laboratory Manager.
• Tear down or organize student stations, models, equipment, consumables, and course materials after each lab session.
• Assist the Course Director and Faculty with exams.
• Inventory laboratory supplies and manage receiving, tracking, and stocking of incoming orders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of related work experience, with inventory and stocking experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner with regular, predictable, in-person attendance.
• No inhibiting allergies to animals or formaldehyde.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, and hear.
• Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, taste or smell.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Moderate noise level.
• Occasionally work near wet or humid conditions, in high or precarious places, or in extreme cold.
• Exposure to toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes, or airborne particles, occasionally requiring use of a respirator.
