Position Summary

The Analytics Engineer contributes to the full lifecycle of analytics solution development. The Engineer designs, develops, implements, and supports advanced analytics and data warehousing solutions. Solutions are exclusively in the commercial property and casualty insurance subject area. Platforms are both on-premises and cloud-based.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with managers, technical experts, customer subject matter experts, and business analysts to deliver high-quality property and casualty insurance analytics solutions.
  • Enhance and update technical skills and subject matter expertise as required by the role.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in at least two data areas, tools, or platforms, working closely with managers to cultivate and expand this expertise.
  • Share knowledge with fellow engineers to foster their development and contribute to team success.
  • Take responsibility for project management, departmental and team goals, and effective communication.
  • Serve as an on-call engineer, participating in a rotating schedule for after-hours support of critical situations and release escalations from production support teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, computer science, a math-related major, or equivalent combination of education and/or three or more years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • developing complex analytics solutions onMicrosoft SQL Server;
    • reading, writing, and refactoring complex SQL (structured query language) stored procedures and queries;
    • enterprise analytics platforms (e.g. ThoughtSpot, Logi Info);
    • ERP (enterprise resource planning) software (e.g. Great Plains);
    • commercial property and casualty insurance industry (e.g. Guidewire)
  • Knowledge and understanding of relational and dimensional database principles and practices.
  • Skills in decision making, estimation, prioritization, organization, and time management with attention to detail to ensure tasks and deliverables are completed in an accurate and precise manner.
  • Proficient in both verbal and written communication, enabling the clear presentation of complex technical information to diverse audiences; ability and commitment to maintain confidentiality.
  • Interpersonal interactions, with the ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels and with external stakeholders.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, MicrosoftWindows Server platform and other function specific applications and systems.
