About the role
- Designs the merchant data foundation and model while it's still taking shape, builds analytics from scratch, and owns things end-to-end on a small, high-impact team
- Goes deep into datasets, shapes infrastructure, and sees your work drive the business directly in a fast-moving environment
- Operates across the full spectrum of data engineering (~10%), analytics engineering (~80%), and business intelligence (~10%), and serves as a core technical point of contact for business stakeholders
- Handles regular and evolving ad hoc requests—often from senior management with imperfect data
- Turns high-level requirements and business needs into reliable pipelines that make analytics frictionless for downstream users
- Performs dimensional/semantic data modeling, performance tuning, and creates clean, consumable datasets
- Designs, builds, and operates analytics pipelines with testing and monitoring built in
- Builds analytics from the ground up while the underlying data model is still being defined, and helps define it
- Discovers, evaluates, and onboards new datasets; manages connectors and ingestion methods
- Integrates source systems into our central Snowflake platform and troubleshoots failures, latency, and data quality issues
- Handles unpredictable, deep ad hoc requests in a high-paced environment with imperfect data
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, business analytics, engineering, or a related field
- 4+ years designing data models and pipelines, and handling ad hoc analytics requests
- Advanced SQL and Python
- Strong Snowflake experience (ingestion, transformations, access patterns, governance basics) and ability to operate independently
- Proven ability to break ambiguous problems into structured, solvable components
- Strong analytical and systems-design skills
- High-ownership, proactive, and able to run multiple workstreams and follow through without constant direction
- Someone who digs into the why behind a request—a real problem-solver who delivers
Preferred Qualifications
- Snowflake SnowPro Core Certification
- Familiarity with geospatial data
- CI/CD pipeline development experience
- Experience in a fast-paced, technical, and contribution-oriented environment
