Job Summary

Hearst Television (HTV) is seeking an Analytics Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transforming raw data into actionable insights through the creation of robust data models and the implementation of AI-driven solutions.

About the Role

The Analytics Engineer will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between raw data and strategic insights, focusing on the development of high-performance Semantic Models that drive decision-making processes within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Medallion Transformation: Architect and maintain the Silver and Gold layers of the Lakehouse using Spark and SQL, ensuring rigorous testing, cleaning, and documentation of all data.
• Semantic Modeling: Design and manage the Microsoft Fabric Semantic Model in Direct Lake mode to provide a comprehensive "Single Source of Truth" for the organization.
• Business Logic Codification: Collaborate with Sales and Finance teams to convert complex business requirements into precise technical data definitions, including Revenue Pacing, Share of Wallet, and Yield.
• AI Data Readiness: Structure data for efficient consumption by AI Data Agents, enabling them to navigate complex hierarchical structures of stations, advertisers, and categories.
• Data Governance & Security: Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and maintain data lineage to ensure compliance with Hearst’s unified data strategy and adhere to regulatory standards.
• Technical Leadership: Lead the design of project-specific data models, prepare detailed design specifications, and estimate features collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Optimization & RCA: Conduct root cause analysis on data pipeline anomalies and implement solutions to enhance performance and minimize points of failure.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in business analytics, data modeling, or data engineering, or a Master’s degree with 5+ years of experience.
• 5+ years of deep experience with relational modeling concepts and Microsoft tabular semantic models.
• Expert-level SQL skills and 5+ years of experience with Power BI, DAX, and Spark (Spark SQL/PySpark/Scala).
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric tools and the Delta Lake format.
• Demonstrated experience translating complex business requirements into technical requirements using Star Schema/Dimensional modeling.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and modern development workflows.
• Proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders and escalate data requirements or constraints effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with governance, security best practices, and performance tuning in a cloud environment.
• Experience in the media or broadcasting industry.
• Knowledge of serverless architectures and containerized deployment.
