Analytical Chemist - Organics (PFAS)
About the role
We’re seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist to support organics and PFAS testing in our environmental laboratory in Reading, PA. In this role, you will perform analytical testing, method development, and data validation on water and wastewater samples for PFAS and other organic analytes, ensuring the accuracy and quality our clients rely on for regulatory compliance and decision-making. Using advanced extraction techniques and instrumentation, you will generate precise, defensible data in a fast-paced laboratory environment. You will also contribute to method optimization and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining data integrity within LIMS and adhering to QA/QC standards to deliver reliable, high-quality results.
Responsibilities
- Perform PFAS and organic analysis using LC-MS/MS and applicable instrumentation and methodologies
- Generate accurate, defensible data in compliance with QA/QC standards and client requirements
- Document and manage analytical data in LIMS, ensuring traceability and regulatory compliance
- Support method development, validation, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and analytical methods, and support investigations including root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Perform instrument calibrations, quality control checks, and preventative maintenance
- Support internal and external audits, including preparation and response to findings
- Develop, review, and update SOPs to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Assist with training and supporting laboratory staff on methods, instrumentation, and procedures
- Communicate analytical results and provide technical interpretation as needed
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support laboratory and client needs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related scientific field
- 3+ years of hands-on analytical laboratory experience performing PFAS and/or organic testing using LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, or GC instrumentation
- Demonstrated experience with QA/QC analysis, analytical data review, root cause analysis, corrective action, method development, and CAPA
- Proficient in LIMS and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook)

Schedule
- Full-time, on-site role; Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 4:30 PM
- Flexibility to work extended hours, evenings, or weekends as needed
Work Environment
- Routine handling of environmental samples (including wastewater and soil) and laboratory chemicals; appropriate PPE is provided and required
