About The Opportunity

This is an open position within FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. The Analyst ensures accurate internal management reporting and external financial reporting throughout the organization. This on-site role is located at FirstEnergy’s corporate headquarters in Akron, OH. The Analyst will collaborate with the reporting team and stakeholders across finance, accounting, and operations to deliver precise financial reporting. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex financial information effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the preparation and distribution of various monthly internal reports.
  • Prepare, document, and analyze the Company’s periodic SEC and regulatory reporting and disclosures, specifically management’s discussion and analysis.
  • Prepare supporting materials for investor relations.
  • Participate in the preparation and analysis of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide support and assistance to external auditors.
  • Conduct ad hoc research, analyze data, interpret results, and provide financial analysis to senior management for various projects.
  • Develop solutions to improve the accuracy or efficiency of complex business processes and projects.
  • Interface with and support various departments (state finance, rates and regulatory affairs, investor relations, treasury, etc.).
  • Consistently anticipate and deliver against a defined action plan.
  • Understand the financial and strategic goals of FirstEnergy.
  • Align with FirstEnergy’s Core Values and Behaviors as well as priorities of the Finance organization.
  • Maintain a safe workplace for coworkers and the community based on knowledge of potential hazards and industry regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; MBA or relevant master’s degree a plus.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills with the ability to connect financial data to business decisions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); advanced Excel knowledge a plus.
  • SAP knowledge preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial cost flows and concepts.
  • Familiarity with QlikView or other reporting tools.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Utility or regulated industry experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn, produce results, and develop relationships.

  • Superior analytical abilities and ability to present complex subject matter to all levels of management.
