About the role

This job is a member of the Procurement team within our Finance division. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategic programs that align with internal stakeholder needs, focusing on cost-effective solutions, timely acquisition, and comprehensive supply management.

Responsibilities

  • Drive results through action-oriented initiatives and strong relationship-building skills.
  • Innovate and creatively solve problems, taking full ownership of your projects.
  • Represent American Airlines in negotiations and business dealings, both internally and externally.
  • Act as a catalyst for change, streamlining processes for greater efficiency.
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of commodities and categories.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of category strategies as a strategic thinker.
  • Assist with RFP processes and contract negotiations.
  • Enhance company value while fostering positive supplier relationships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand their needs and integrate them into procurement processes.
  • Communicate effectively, demonstrating emotional intelligence in all interactions.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training

Preferred Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Advanced degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or other related field
  • Proficiency in Source to Pay systems
  • Experience in vendor relationship management
  • Skills in process mapping and supplier risk analysis

Skills

  • Knowledge of supply chain concepts, with work or internship experience applying those concepts
  • Negotiating and influencing skills
  • Ability to be self-directed and resourceful with the ability to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks with exhibited follow through and initiative
  • Business understanding, particularly in project management, early supplier involvement, total cost management and financial analysis
  • Understanding and use of technical tools for analysis, problem solving, forecasting and quality improvement
  • High ethical standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Solid understanding of supply chain management principles
